The Grangefield Academy celebrates outstanding GCSE results

Students at The Grangefield Academy, one of ten secondary Academies sponsored by Northern Education Trust, have achieved some of their best ever GCSE results, with the progress of students significantly above the national average.

Yet again, the Academy has sustained a number of strong passes (Grade 5) in English and Maths. An amazing 76% of students overall achieved a pass in English and Maths, equaling the record-breaking results from 2018.

There were some outstanding individual successes:

Jamie West achieved Grade 9s in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Declan Pitt achieved Grade 9s in Physics, Maths, English Literature, Chemistry and Biology
Owen Swan achieved Grade 9s in Maths and Chemistry (Owen is a Year 10 student who has taken all his GCSEs a year in advance due to his tremendous ability)

Kate Wright, Acting Principal of The Grangefield Academy thanked the students and staff for their efforts and commitment, saying: “these results are the culmination of years of hard work for our students, and I’m absolutely delighted with their achievements. I would like to express my thanks to staff for their continued efforts – the results are testament to their continuous support, energy and enthusiasm. My thanks also go to the parents, carers, governors and the Trust Board for their continued support – our students and staff couldn’t succeed without their help.”

Nikki Gibb, Associate Executive Principal of The Grangefield Academy added her praise, saying: “We’re over the moon by these results, which are testimony to the vision of the Trust to enhance the life chances of the young people in our care. My thanks and congratulations go to all students and staff for their incredible efforts”.

Rob Tarn, Chief Executive of Northern Education Trust, said “These results reflect the hard work and commitment of the staff and students within the academy. The year on year improvement demonstrates the ongoing quality of education provided by the academy, and the exceptional desire of the students to succeed. We aim to enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care, and these results are the culmination of their incredible efforts and dedication, allowing them to progress to the next stage of their lives with confidence in their abilities to succeed. We are extremely proud of our students and wish them every success with their futures”.
