The Grangefield Academy places a strong emphasis on smart appearance. Students should not adopt any kind of outlandish appearance that could bring unwarranted attention on themselves. Parents are asked to co-operate with the academy in these matters and it should be noted that students who ignore our rules may be removed from lessons. Please contact the academy if you are in any doubt about this and do not let your child convince you that any form of appearance is allowed.
Parents who wish to raise questions of possible variations to acceptable dress and appearance based on religious beliefs should contact the Principal as early as possible.
If a student has a temporary problem with an item of uniform, they should bring a note explaining this from their parent. Their Learning Guide will normally issue a permission slip to allow them to attend lessons. However, students who persistently arrive without full uniform may be removed from lessons.
We ask that students come to school each day with some basic equipment that they will need for each lesson. All students should have a pencil case with a pen, pencil, eraser, sharpener, ruler and calculator. In addition, students will need a bag in which to carry their PE kit, school books and other equipment.
We would also recommend that students have colouring pencils, a 2B drawing pencil and a dictionary. The Maths Faculty recommend that students also have a protractor and compass.
